Abandon Ship!

Un amigo me hizo el siguiente pedido

No sé ni el título, ni el año, ni los actores o actrices. 

Se trataba del hundimiento de un barco, y sólo quedaba un oficial en un bote salvavidas, y unas 30 o 40 personas entre hombres, mayores, mujeres y niños. 

Al final tienen que decidir quién se queda en el bote y quién va a morir, pues se acerca una tormenta. 

Se quedan sólo los más fuertes mientras que los débiles son arrojados al mar. 

Habia un camarero que tenia las mano quemadas, salvan a un perro porque podia servir de alimento, se turnaban para estar en el bote y los amezaban tiburones. 

Finalmente, pasan la tormenta, son rescatados, y el oficial es juzgado y condenado por su polémica decisión.

Creo que está basada en hechos reales.

Seven Waves Away (alternate U.S. titles: Abandon Ship! and Seven Days From Now) is a 1957 drama film starring Tyrone Power, Mai Zetterling, Lloyd Nolan, and Stephen Boyd.

When the luxury liner SS Crescent Star sinks in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, twenty-seven survivors converge on a single lifeboat designed to accommodate far fewer. 

The wounded captain passes command to executive officer Alec Holmes (Tyrone Power) before dying. 

Holmes then learns from "Sparks" Clary (John Stratton), the ship's radio operator, that the transmitter was destroyed before a call for help could be sent. 

Holmes decides to try to reach the nearest land 1500 miles away.

With a major storm approaching, Frank Kelly (Lloyd Nolan) warns Holmes that the overloaded boat will be swamped unless some of the passengers are jettisoned. 

The injured Kelly then sacrifices himself by jumping overboard. 

Holmes decides to get rid of the old and injured, over the shocked protests of his girlfriend, Julie White (Mai Zetterling). 

When he orders Will McKinley (Stephen Boyd) to dispose of an unconscious woman, McKinley obeys, then jumps in after her. 

One by one, Holmes sends others to certain death.

The lightened lifeboat weathers the storm and the rest of the survivors thank Holmes for saving them. 

Then, they spot a ship. 

As it comes to pick them up, the others distance themselves from Holmes' actions.
